The 3rd round of the NFL Draft is winding down as teams make their final selections before the third and final round of the NFL Draft. The third round doesn't get a ton of attention but, often times teams will find consistent starters and key pieces of their team who develop into long term pieces. In the third round of the Draft the Baltimore Ravens used the 91st overall pick on LSU right tackle Emery Jones Jr.
The Baltimore Ravens land another massive steal in Emery Jones Jr
The Baltimore Ravens constantly win the NFL Draft landing key piece after key piece loading up on steals as the draft goes along. Thus far the Ravens are crushing the draft landing safety Malaki Starks, Edge Rusher Mike Green, and now right tackle Emery Jones Jr. Landing Emery Jones Jr will prove to be one of the biggest steals in the draft.
Heading into the season, NFL Draft analysts had Emery Jones Jr pegged as a potential first round pick at right tackle. In 2024, Emery Jones Jr allowed just two sacks on 522 pass blocking snaps which was an incredible season. The concern is that Emery Jones Jr often plays too far over his feet which leads to him falling while blocking.
The Baltimore Ravens are an offensive line factory and landing an offensive lineman at 6 foot 5 and 315 pounds gives them a monster to develop. While Emery Jones Jr may not be an instant plug and play starter at right tackle the team can continue to develop his game while trying him at guard where he could be dominant, not facing speed rushers.
Emery Jones Jr came to LSU as a four star recruit and a top-100 player in the 2022 recruiting class. Jones was an instant starter for LSU at Right Tackle playing three seasons opposite of Will Campbell. All of Jones' experience should allow him to transition fairly easily into the NFL if he can continue to refine his technique.
