The LSU Tigers lost this weekend in embarrassing fashion to Alabama who’s shown they’re vulnerable this season. Given that LSU lost for the third time in embarrassing fashion, we all knew it killed LSU’s chances at earning an at-large bid but the question was how far.

The committee has sent their message loud and clear as LSU fumbled all the way to 22nd.

The committee showed some recency bias ranking LSU behind South Carolina whom LSU beat in South Carolina.

LSU’s loss to Alabama vaulted the Crimson Tide to 10th giving Alabama the wiggle room they needed. Also ranked ahead of LSU are Clemson, Colorado, Washington State, Boise State, and Kansas State all of which LSU would likely be favored against on a Neutral Site.

There is no great chance for LSU to move up

The LSU Tigers still have one path to the College Football Playoff via the SEC Championship but; the Tigers won’t have the right games to earn an at large bid. LSU faces three unranked teams to end the year in Florida, Vanderbilt, and Oklahoma which won’t give them a resume builder against other potential 9-3 teams.

In many ways LSU did it to themselves ruining a great chance at making the Playoff. The Tigers continue to put themselves behind the eight hall by scheduling and losing tough season openers. LSU also had every chance to close out Texas A&M but, a lack of a killer instinct has kept every game this season close.
