After the Brian Kelly era at LSU ended in disappointment, it's clear to see that Tiger fans are fired up for the Lane Kiffin era. LSU has not qualified for the College Football Playoff since its historic 2019 season, and that's something Kiffin is looking to change in Year 1 of his tenure in Baton Rouge.

Kiffin has revamped LSU's roster by signing 14 players during the Early Signing Period and bringing in the No. 1 transfer portal class in the country. His portal haul includes three of the top players on the market in QB Sam Leavitt, OT Jordan Seaton, and EDGE Princewill Umanmielen. That firepower has LSU fans counting down the days until the season opener on September 5 against Clemson.

LSU Football sees record-setting ticket requests for 2026 season

Amid all the excitement surrounding the LSU Football program, the school has seen a record number of season ticket requests for the 2026 season. Speaking with 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge earlier this week, LSU athletic director Verge Ausberry stated that LSU currently has roughly 44,000 people on a football season ticket waiting list. That number far exceeds the previous high of 17,000.

Ausberry attributed the extremely high demand directly to Kiffin. "It’s Lane Kiffin," said Ausberry. "It’s the team he recruited, the players he recruited and also a great home schedule we have. There’s a lot of buzz and a lot of excitement with LSU right now, not only with our fan base but throughout the country. There’s a lot of activity, a lot of corporate sponsors, a lot of donors betting on LSU right now.”

LSU's 2026 home schedule features plenty of great matchups. The season gets started on September 5 when the Clemson Tigers come to Death Valley. LSU defeated Dabo Swinney's squad by a score of 17-10 in the season opener last year on the road, and now Clemson will make the return trip to Baton Rouge.

The Tigers will then host Louisiana Tech on September 12, Texas A&M on September 26, McNeese on October 3, and Mississippi State on October 17. The month of November features the biggest matchups of the season, as LSU takes on Alabama and Texas in back-to-back weeks on November 7 and 14.

Kiffin has given the LSU program a new energy, and the remarkable ticket demand for 2026 shows that Tiger fans are ready to see what Kiffin and company can do.
