When Brian Kelly brought back Corey Raymond, the objective was clear, Raymond needed to bring back that DBU mentality and identity back to the Bayou. The rebirth was never going to happen overnight as Raymond still needed to bring in the players that he liked the fit and play of the most.

Recruiting rankings aren't an exact science as we've seen five stars fail and two star recruits like Justin Jefferson emerge as superstars in College and in the NFL. These rankings are constantly being updated as players continue their high school careers as the evaluators look at more tape.

When you look at the recruiting rankings for Corey Raymond's incredible class it becomes clear that the rebuild is very much under the way. 24/7 Sports updated their recruiting rankings this week and it shows that LSU has a class of defensive backs ready to make an impact at LSU.

24/7 Sports is the lowest on DJ Pickett of any recruiting site yet he is their 4th ranked cornerback and their 19th ranked player overall. The drop in his ranking is likely more about his switch from safety where they had him graded to cornerback but, its still clear they think he's a five star talent.

Kade Phillips took a massive jump and is now the 37th ranked player in the class and the 6th ranked cornerback. When LSU flipped Phillips it was massive as he's another cornerback that fits the Corey Raymond prototype and could be a player that pushes for immediate playing time.

The two biggest risers were two cornerbacks coming right out of LSU's home turf which has always been a success. Aidan Anding is now a four star recruit ranked as the 155th best recruit in the class and the 18th best cornerback. Jacob Bradford is now the 170th best recruit in the class and he has the chance to play cornerback or safety at LSU.

The LSU staff has seen Anding and Bradford play more than any of the cornerbacks given the proximity which should only make everyone more excited about their potential impact.

The Reload is underway at LSU

This season with Corey Raymond in charge of developing cornerbacks we've already seen the changes taking place. Ashton Stamps has emerged as the top cornerback for this team and as he gets more experience this team will only get better. We've seen a true freshman in PJ Woodland get into some big time games making massive plays and he'll be a player LSU relies heavily on in 2025. The defense is making massive strides and the development at cornerback deserves a ton of credit which should make everyone excited for what's to come.
