The LSU Tigers entered Sunday with just one game left in the Frisco College Baseball Classic despite already clinching the Championship. The game was moved up as the rain in the area became a threat and early on all it rained was base hits as both teams were locked in at the plate.

The Tigers got the scoring going in a big way as Steven Milam blasted one over the wall in left to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the second inning. After the Milam homerun, the floodgates opened as LSU pushed a second run across on a Chris Stanfield groundout as the Tigers used small ball to make it 2-0. Jared Jones then doubled to Left Center doubling LSU's lead to 4-0.

Ethan Frey then continued his impressive start to the season blasting a three run home run to left field to make it 7-0 LSU as the Tigers poured it on in the second.

The long second inning looked like it threw Chase Shores out of rhythm as he came back in the third and didn't look the same. Shores gave up runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings but, thanks to LSU's offense he never truly had to worry. Shores finished the game throwing five innings allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, with 3 runs, and five strikeouts.

In the bottom of the third LSU helped push their lead back as a Chris Stanfield groundout scored Jish Pearson before Derek Curiel doubled to left field scoring Luis Hernandez making it 9-2 LSU. The Tigers jumped right back on Sam Houston in the fourth as a Steven Milam sac fly brought a run home before Luis Hernandez singled to left to bring home Josh Pearson.

The Sam Houston Bearkats then started to chip away at LSU's lead scoring a run in the 5th inning. In the sixth inning, Kade Woods walked a pair and allowed two singles allowing Sam Houston to score a run before LSU got an out. Cooper Williams was next up for LSU and he started by walking in a run before Sam Houston scored another on a groundout. A sac fly to center saw LSU's lead cut to three as the game started to become a ballgame once again.

Derek Curiel got to work again in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single to left which pushed LSU's lead back to four runs.

Connor Benge got himself in trouble in the 7th but, was able to work his way out of the jam giving LSU a much needed scoreless inning. In the 8th inning it was DJ Primeaux brought on and he rewarded Jay Johnson with a 1-2-3 inning which was hard to come by in this game.

The Tigers went quietly in the 8th and Mavrick Rizy was called in to slam the door shut as the rain started to come down. Rizy started the ninth inning walking a pair with one out which turned the game to Jaden Noot. Noot quickly got a groundout and a punch out giving LSU a 12-8 win and a perfect week.

Derek Curiel was incredible for the Tigers in the leadoff spot with a 2-3 day at the plate while walking three times, scoring a run, and driving in a pair. Jared Jones continues his incredible start to the year with a 2-5 day at the plate driving in a pair. Ethan Frey and Steven Milam both went yard combining for five RBIs which were desperately needed. Chris Stanfield continues to embody Jay Johnson's vision for this team as he drove in a pair with great situational hitting.

After a perfect week, LSU will be eyeing the Nation's Top Ranking after Texas A&M's miserable week. The Tigers now travel back to Baton Rouge before a two game set against North Dakota State on Tuesday and Wednesday.
