After the LSU Basketball team won a massive game over Kansas State, the Tigers predictably came out slow against Charleston Southern. Jalen Reed and Cam Carter got themselves into foul trouble early on and with the Tigers two best players out of the game the Buccaneers were able to take a five point lead into the half.
As LSU's best players struggled, the Tigers needed someone to step up off of the bench. The game turned into the Vyctorius Miller show as the Tigers true freshman dazzled. Miller finished the game with 19 points on 9 for 14 shooting and a pair of steals off the bench.
Three plays in the second half completely changed the momentum of the game as the Tigers were trailing by 5 with just over 13 minutes to go. The first play was Cam Carter hitting a three pointer and drawing a foul heading into the tv timeout.
Then LSU converted a Sportscenter Top 10 caliber play as Damion Collins made an incredible block and as the ball was heading out of bounds Jordan Sears just smacked it down the court and Vyctorius Miller out ran everyone to grab the ball and made a layup drawing an and one.
Miller missed the free throw but, LSU got the rebound and Cam Carter powered to the rim missing the layup but, Corey Chest threw down a putback dunk giving LSU the lead causing the PMAC to explode.
As Charleston Southern was trying to make this game tight down the stretch, Corey Chest made another incredible play finishing an alley-oop from Jordan Sears putting a dagger in the Bucs.
Jordan Sears was incredible down the stretch scoring 12 second half points providing LSU with some solid play down the stretch to close this game out.
Corey Chest is emerging as a player that Matt McMahon has to keep in the rotation as he plays with so much energy on both ends of the court. The player that will fly under the radar this season is Dji Bailey as he gives the Tigers whatever they need tonight providing scoring with 11 points and 3 rebounds along with some solid defense.
The Tigers will need to work on their end of game play as they seriously struggled crossing half court against the full court press.
Just keep winning early on this season
Look LSU Basketball hasn't played the toughest of opponents but, all you can ask for is that this team keeps winning early on. The Tigers will have plenty of chances to win tougher games in SEC play but, winning against Mid Majors give you a chance to have strong resume pieces when March rolls around. The Tigers have some tough games coming over the next month and you'd love to see the Tigers win as many as they can before SEC Play.
