The LSU Basketball team hasn't gotten off to the best of starts in SEC Play as the Tigers are currently 1-4 in SEC Play. When LSU opened SEC play dropping games to Vanderbilt and Missouri it spelt trouble for the Tigers as the rest of the month was brutal. After the opening stretch LSU lost to Top 25 opponents Texas A&M and Ole Miss but, they did beat Arkansas who has struggled this year.
Just two games remain in the Month of January and it's tough set to expectations for LSU in either game. It would be unfair to say LSU has to win both games because frankly most teams can't beat Alabama or Auburn. On the other hand heading into February at 1-6 in SEC Play would mean LSU has little to no chance of making the NCAA Tournament.
To finish the month of January, LSU starts by going on the road against 4th ranked Alabama on Saturday. The Crimson Tide are dominant and they're very tough to slow down as any given player on their team can score 20 a game. The Crimson Tide are a nightmare for LSU as the Tigers don't have nearly as much firepower meaning if LSU starts slow this game may be over in a flash.
As if facing the 4th ranked team isn't tough enough, LSU then returns home to face the Nation's top team the Auburn Tigers. Auburn is one of the deepest teams in the Country with six players averaging double figures as they're clicking in every aspect of the game.
The LSU Basketball team will need to get Vyctorius Miller back for both of these games because while he's struggled to start SEC play he is one of LSU's best scorers and will only get better with experience in the league.
The Tigers path to victory in Non-Conference games was strong showings by Cam Carter and Jordan Sears powering the offense, while Carter has been consistent Sears hasn't gotten over the 20 point mark in Conference Play. LSU will also need more high upside games from Daimion Collins as when he's scoring it gives LSU another player that can give opponents issues.
Winning just one of these two games would give LSU a massive boost heading into February as SEC play is set to be a race to the finish. Picking up a win over a potential top seed in the tournament will give LSU a massive resume building win and it'll onlu build Confidence heading into February.
