The LSU Tigers win over Ole Miss last night was massive as it kept the Tigers from suffering their second loss of the season. It also kept LSU in the race for the College Football Playoff as it gave LSU a resume building win.

After the Tigers hardly moved in the Coaches Poll and stood pat in the AP Poll last weekend, the Tigers had to move up this weekend.

After beating Ole Miss this weekend, LSU has made the jump to eighth in the Coaches Poll. LSU's win over Ole Miss will still have a chance at being a great resume win as the Rebels are now ranked 15th. The Tigers still get to play 7th-ranked Alabama, 14th ranked Texas A&M, and Oklahoma who fell to 26th.

In the AP Poll, LSU has also moved up to the eighth ranking. The teams ranked ahead of the Tigers are all the same but in a different order than the Coaches Poll.

Next weekend won’t give LSU too big of a chance to move up in the Polls as they’ll face Arkansas but, they’ll need to pull off a win. Overall, LSU has put itself in the perfect sport to contend for a playoff bid this season and they still control their own destiny.
