The LSU Women's Basketball team entered Sunday looking to wrap up what has been a solid week by beating Mississippi State at home. The Tigers picked up another SEC win beating Mississippi State 81-67 picking up a second SEC win this week.
The Tigers started this game off dominating on offense as the Tigers jumped out to a 24-12 lead in the first quarter. When it seemed LSU may run away with this game, the Bulldogs responded by showing a massive flurry of their own on offense sending the game to halftime with LSU leading just 41-35.
The Tigers offense picked up right were they left off in the third quarter scoring 24 points but, the defense never could slow the Bulldogs who scored 19 in the third. The Tigers were able to use the lead they had built up to cruise to victory in a low scoring 4th quarter.
Mikaylah Williams was incredible once again scoring 22 points on 8 of 16 shooting and 4 of 8 shooting from three. Flau'Jae Johnson continued her dominant run giving the Tigers 20 points on 6 of 12 shooting while making four of her six three point attempts. Aneesah Morrow continues to dominate for the Tigers on the inside recording another double double as she scored 18 points with 20 rebounds.
As Sa'Myah Smith was serving her one game suspension, Jersey Wolfenbarger stepped into the starting lineup and scored 12 points for the Tigers with 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, and two steals. After missing the Oklahoma game for breaking team rules, Last-Tear Poa did not play in this game either.
The Lady Tigers close the week with two great wins in the SEC and could rise from their 7th ranking in the AP Poll. The Tigers offense is clicking on all cylinders and if the defense could rise to the occasion, the Tigers may be unstopable.
