The LSU Lady Tigers entered Thursday Night in a tricky spot as they faced off against a struggling Missouri Tigers team on the road coming off of a long layoff. When you face a team like Missouri who hasn't had much to celebrate this season, they're always going to give you their best effort looking to change the season.
The Lady Tigers looked affected by the long layoff and Missouri's pace to start the game scoring just 11 points but, the defense only allowed Missouri to score 15 points. In the second quarter, LSU started to click starting the quarter on an 8-2 run while the defense six forced turnovers while stifling Missouri's offense.
Missouri came out of the locker room and slowed LSU's offense taking the lead at one point in the third quarter but, LSU flipped the switch going on a 15-1 run which all but, sealed the game. Missouri was able to chip away at times during the 4th quarter, but the Tigers got the job done picking up their 9th win of SEC Play.
Flau'Jae Johnson was impressive making 3 of 5 three-pointers scoring 19 points leading the Tigers offense. Like Johnson, Mikaylah Williams shot 50% from the field while making 3 of 4 three-point attempts scoring 16 points. Aneesah Morrow continues her incredible run posting double-doubles with 13 points and 14 rebounds, 9 of which were offensive rebounds.
The difference for the Tigers in this game was the effort Kim Mulkey got from some of the Tigers' bench pieces. Mjracle Sheppard was massive for Mulkey off the bench playing 28 minutes giving the Tigers 11 points and 7 rebounds off of the bench.
The Lady Tigers have now picked up their ninth win of SEC Play and will return home to face the Tennessee Volunteers on Super Bowl Sunday looking to add another SEC win.
