The LSU Women's Basketball team came into Sunday with a chance to pick up one last Non-Conference win over the University of Albany Great Danes before heading into SEC Play. The Tigers looked exactly like a team that hadn't played in ten games starting incredibly sloppy. The Tigers started off sloppy allowing UAlbany to take a 25 to 16 lead in the first quarter turning the ball over 7 times in the first quarter.
Once the Second Quarter started, the defense started to lock in holding the Great Danes to 13 points allowing the offense to chip away at the lead as the Tigers went into the half trailing 38-34. The third quarter saw LSU find its offense scoring 22 points while the defense continued to dominate holding UAlbany to just 15 points.
The fourth quarter was the performance Kim Mulkey was looking for from her group as LSU's defense hunkered down allowing just 8 points while the offense exploded for 27 points.
Aneesah Morrow led the way scoring 20 points, grabbing 18 rebounds, and two assists while making 8 of 13 attempts. Mikaylah Williams gave the Tigers 18 points and 5 rebounds while Flau'Jae Johnson scored 15 points while grabbing 9 rebounds. Jersey Wolfenbarger turned in one of her best performances of the season scoring 11 points on 3 of 5 shooting while grabbing 7 rebounds.
The Tigers now head into SEC play where we will finally see this team face opponents that can test them. The first week of SEC play, LSU will face Arkansas followed by Auburn and 15th ranked Tennessee the next week which will give us a better sense on how good this team truly is. Kim Mulkey's team remains unbeaten which gives everyone a ton of hope for what's to come down the line.
