The LSU Tigers pull off a five-star flip nabbing five-star Florida State commit
The LSU Tigers desperately needed some momentum both on the field and on the recruiting trail amid a late losing streak and after losing Bryce Underwood to Michigan, Devin Harper to Ole Miss and edge rusher Jesse Harrold. The Tigers got that momentum over the last two Saturdays beating Vanderbilt 24-17 and Oklahoma 37-17 with a few key recruits in attendance.
One of those recruits during the Vanderbilt game was five star interior offensive lineman Solomon Thomas a Florida State commit.
Solomon Thomas is a recruit that LSU and Brad Davis have been pushing for a long time and at points this offseason it looked like LSU may pull off the flip. Today, the Tigers finally got the flip done landing the five-star over Florida State and Florida who pushed hard.
According to On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings, Thomas is the 32nd ranked player in the class, the second ranked interior offensive linemen, and the 4th ranked player out of Florida. Landing Thomas moves LSU's recruiting class from 9th to 6th according to On3.
The Tigers were helped by the fact that Florida State fired offensive line coach Alex Atkins who Thomas had built a great relationship with and Davis is the benefactor.
Landing Thomas is a massive pickup for LSU in this recruiting class especially this late in the recruiting cycle. LSU lost Devin Harper to Ole Miss after the Florida game and they replace him almost immediately with an elite talent in Thomas.
Thomas joins offensive linemen Carius Curne, Tyler Miller, and Brett Bordelon in Davis' recruiting class. Landing a massive recruiting class at offensive line was a massive priority for LSU as the Tigers will likely lose Will Campbell, Garrett Dellinger, Miles Frazier, and Emery Jones. Thomas slides right in with Curne and Miller as top end talents that could start at guard or tackle for this team as early as next season.
The Tigers losses on the recruiting trail as of late opened up some NIL money and some spaces in this class which certainly played a big role in landing Thomas.
