The LSU Lady Tigers brought their undefeated record into Thursday Night when they kicked off SEC Play against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The 6th ranked Lady Tigers dominated this game taking an 83-36 lead into the 4th quarter winning their first SEC game 98-64.
The lone concern in this game was turnovers as LSU's starters turned the ball over 10 times with the team turning it over 17 teams. The Tigers defense made up for a ton of the sloppy plays recording 14 steals of their own while blocking 6 shots.
Kailyn Gilbert gave LSU what the Tigers have been looking for scoring 16 off the bench on 7 for 12 shooting while grabbing 3 rebounds. Flau’Jae Johnson continues her incredible season scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Aneesah Morrow gave the Tigers a double double of her own scoring 11 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Mikaylah Williams was efficient scoring for the Tigers making 5 of 7 shots scoring 14 points.
On the other side, Arkansas' Izzy Higginbottom led the game with 27 points on 10-21 shooting while knocking down all 6 free throw attempts. Carly Keats was right behind her with 18 points on 6-14 shooting knocking down 4 of 11 3 point attempts. The Tigers will need to do a better job at slowing the opposing teams' leading players as they face tougher teams in SEC Play.
Overall, this was the Tigers most dominant performance of the year especially considering that the Tigers had the game in hand by the end of the third quarter. The team played well as a unit not overly relying on one player while early on nearly every made shot was coming off of an assist. On most nights, the Tigers will have a clear talent advantage and if they can play this way they'll dominate most opponents.
