The LSU Baseball team moved to 9-1 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Dartmouth at Alex Box Stadium on Friday night. It was a slow night for the Tiger offense, as they recorded just five total hits in the victory. But thankfully, starting pitcher Casan Evans and reliever Gavin Guidry put together great performances on the mound.
The eye-popping stat that proves LSU struck gold with TJ Dottery
Evans racked up 10 strikeouts over 5.2 innings while allowing two runs on just two hits. Guidry took over for Evans in the 6th inning, and didn't need any help the rest of the way. The redshirt junior tossed 3.2 scoreless innings while striking out five and allowing just a single hit. The outing continues an impressive start to the season for Guidry, which is a welcome sight for LSU's bullpen.
Another game, another strong outing from Gavin Guidry
Guidry missed all of last season with a back injury, but he has put together a sensational start to the season in his return in 2026. Guidry has now appeared in four games out of the bullpen for the Tigers, and has yet to allow a run.
In total, the Lake Charles native has totaled 16 strikeouts without issuing a single walk through 9.0 innings of work. Furthermore, he has allowed just three hits while earning three wins and collecting a save.
Guidry's off-speed pitches remain arguably the best in the SEC, and his fastball velocity has been hovering around 92-93 mph. That combination has led him to a great start, and Tiger fans are hoping it continues. He can be used in a wide variety of situations, and that versatility could come in handy as he is poised to take on a monster role in LSU's bullpen this season.
After his strong showing on Friday, Guidry is now 8-0 with a 2.76 ERA and 1.129 WHIP in his collegiate career with the purple and gold. He's racked up 94 strikeouts in 62.0 innings on the mound, and owns a K/9 ratio of 13.0. Now pitching at full health, Guidry's promising start is just what the doctor ordered to LSU's bullpen in 2026.
