There are very few athletes that are able to earn the honor of having a statue outside of LSU's Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Among the very few stars to accomplish the feat is LSU Basketball icon and NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal. During his time at LSU, O'Neal was a two-time All-American and brought home countless awards and honors before becoming the first overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft.
O'Neal's son Shareef O'Neal followed in his father's footsteps after starting his career at UCLA before transferring to LSU. On Saturday, Shaquille O'Neal's son Shaqir O'Neal entered the transfer portal leaving Florida A&M.

Shaqir O'Neal started his career at Texas Southern, playing two seasons before transferring to Florida A&M this offseason. At Florida A&M, O'Neal had his best season yet, averaging 6.7 Points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 0.8 assists per game while shooting 50.3% from the field.
During his initial recruitment, LSU wasn't involved but, the Tigers could easily get involved this time around. LSU has lost Derek Fountain who was a Senior as well as veteran forwards Corey Chest and Noah Boyde to the transfer portal.
At 6 foot 8, O'Neal could bring the Tigers some of the size they significantly lacked this season during SEC play. O'Neal would be best suited as a Power Forward for the LSU Basketball team and slotting him alongside a player like Jalen Reed who draws a ton of attention inside could help him succeed.
Given how much the LSU Basketball team lacked size inside this season, adding a player like O'Neal could be a no brainer. LSU took a chance on Noah Boyde last transfer cycle because of his size and O'Neal could serve a similar depth role for the Tigers.
It's unclear what level of interest O'Neal will draw but, if O'Neal is interested in playing for LSU, the Tigers should add him.
