The LSU Basketball team entered Saturday desperately needing a win over the Texas Longhorns as SEC play starts to draw to a close as LSU was at 1-6 in SEC Play. Not only did the LSU Basketball team lose the game but, the Texas Longhorns poured it on LSU. The loss pushes LSU to 12-9 on the season and 1-7 in SEC play and now any chance of making the NCAA Tournament seems far out of reach.

The Tigers entered the half only trailing 31-26 but, the score didn't tell the story of the first half. The first half felt all Texas as the Longhorns kept taking big leads while LSU was trying to chip away any way they could. Texas dominated the Tigers on the glass in the first half but, a few good stretches of defense by LSU kept it closer than it felt.

The second half, the Longhorns finally started to make their shots while the defense wiped out LSU's offense. The Longhorns kept finding open look after open look from three while it felt like LSU needed everything to right to score. The Longhorns made 10 of 21 three-point attempts and when LSU only makes 2 of 15 t's impossible to win.

Just like the inability to make three pointers, LSU's turnover struggles showed up once again as the Tigers turned the ball over 14 times while Texas turned it over just 7 times. Texas took the 14 turnovers and turned it into 16 points while LSU scored just six points off of turnovers.

The final ingredient in LSU's recipe for disaster was getting outclassed on the glass which allowed a great Texas offense additional chances to pour it on. Texas finished winning the rebounding battle 35-23 with 10 offensive rebounds.

The Tigers starters had no answers for Texas' defense as the starters combined for just 21 points while Texas' group had 73 points. The only LSU Tiger to score in double figures was Jordan Sears who scored 13 points.

The LSU Basketball team needs to win as many games as possible going forward as they're far outside the NCAA Tournament bubble. Three of the next five are on the road for LSU as the Tigers face Ole Miss in Oxford on Wednesday.
