The LSU Football team entered Saturday as the 22nd Ranked Team in the Nation and while it's not where LSU wanted to be the Tigers had a chance to continue to move up by winning the final three games. Instead LSU continued its freefall by losing to a Florida team that will have to fight to even finish .500.
A loss as bad as LSU suffered was going to impact the team not only in the standing but, in the Polls and in Recruiting. The US LBM Coaches Poll is the first to be released and the Tigers fell completely out of the Top 25 three games after being ranked inside the Top Ten/
The Tigers received just one vote which accounts for them being the 37th ranked team according to the Coaches.
The sentiment from LSU fans on this season is the same for everyone for the most part. This season not giving LSU the massive year three results Brian Kelly has had at his other stops is okay but, the season being his worst yet at LSU is hard to stomach.
Given the resources dumped into this team from Coaching Salaries to transfer portal additions and NIL deals for recruits, the results have underwhelmed. It's okay to feel as if its unacceptable to be below Vanderbilt, Missouri, Tulane, Army, and some of the smaller schools ranked ahead of LSU.
The failure doesn't mean that LSU needs to fire Brian Kelly
Two things can be true at the same time, this season has been a massive disappointment but, Brian Kelly doesn't need to be fired. This roster always was flawed between having a first time starting quarterback, a lack of defensive playmakers, and having to replace two first round pick Wide Receivers. Kelly will need to fix the issues from this season heading into next season but, he has a massive recruiting class coming in and coaches with proven track records developing players.
