LSU Football's 2026 recruiting class is headlined by Baton Rouge University Lab 5-star prospect Lamar Brown. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive lineman committed to Brian Kelly and LSU in July as a consensus top-10 prospect in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Now, Brown is moving up to the top of the recruiting rankings. As it stands, Brown is now ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite.
Future LSU Tiger Lamar Brown earns No. 1 overall ranking
Brown chose LSU over other offers from the likes of Texas, Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, and Ohio State, among many others. He headlines an LSU recruiting class that ranks No. 11 in the country for 2026. Along with Brown, the other 5-star recruit in LSU's 2026 recruiting class is EDGE Trenton Henderson, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive lineman from Pensacola.
Brown is described by 247Sports Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks as a "legitimate high-level two-way prospect as an interior O-lineman or potentially role-versatile front-line defender." Brooks adds that Brown has a "stout, athletic build that fosters sudden athleticism and explosive movements." Given his elite ability to play on both sides in the trenches, Rival's Charles Power described Brown as "the Travis Hunter of linemen."
Brown remains vocal on social media in his excitement to get to LSU. This past weekend, the highly-touted recruit took to X (formerly Twitter) as LSU defeated Florida 20-10 in Death Valley.

“Being a kid from the area, not everyone has the opportunity to stay home and play for the home team,” Brown told Rivals about his decision to stay close to home and attend LSU. “To have the chance to play for the home team, to be able to shine on Saturdays...it’s a dream and it means a lot for any Louisiana kid.”
