The NFL Offseason officially got underway on Monday Afternoon as the NFL's Legal Tampering Period kicked off. The tampering period allows NFL teams to negotiate and agree upon deals before the new league year kicks off on Wednesday. As soon as the day kicked off, players flew off the board agreeing upon deals with their new teams.

Among the players to ink a new deal was former LSU Star Donte Jackson who signed a two year deal worth $13 million.

The signing of Donte Jackson likely indicates that fellow LSU alum Kristian Fulton won't return to Los Angeles. Fulton had a massive bounce back season with the Chargers and after turning his career around he'll likely command a sizeable raise.

Inking Donte Jackson is a great move the Chargers as they land an instant impact player at cornerback. Jackson gives the team a veteran presence in the secondary and will help as the team faces off against the Chiefs, Broncos, and Raiders' passing attacks twice a year.

Last season was an impressive year from Jackson in Pittsburgh as he had the 7th best catches allowed rate among defensive backs that were targeted 65+ times. This season, Donte Jackson recorded 28 tackles with 5 interceptions, 8 pass defenses, and a fumble recovery. Next season, Jackson will be in his 8th season in the NFL which is beyond impressive in a league that cycles players through as often as the NFL does.

The Chargers don't currently have any other LSU Tigers on the roster but, if DJ Chark or Kristian Fulton are resigned then there will be an LSU duo on the west coast. The Chargers have a ton of work to do in their secondary which could lead to several moves being made in the days to come.
