On Monday, chaos overtakes College Basketball as the Transfer Portal officially opens starting extreme roster turnover throughout the sport. The LSU Tigers enter an important transfer cycle after going 3-15 in Conference Play finishing 15th in the SEC. While LSU had a bad season, Matt McMahon is sticking around as the Tigers will be reinvesting in the Basketball program spending more on the roster in NIL.
While LSU will be spending a ton in NIL to build a better roster, the Tigers will also lose several key pieces to the transfer portal. The first player to enter the transfer portal was Tyrell Ward after he missed the entire season but, the latest entry comes as a bit of a surprise as Center Corey Chest will enter the transfer portal.

Chest is a former four-star recruit who spent two seasons at LSU, redshirting one. Will have serious high-major interest.

This season, Corey Chest averaged 6.1 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game, and 1.2 blocks per game. As a Redshirt Freshman, Chest took the next step becoming a key piece for LSU but, injuries took away the final stretch of his season.
On one hand, Corey Chest isn't a massive loss especially if LSU keeps Daimion Collins, Jalen Reed, and Robert Miller for another season with Freshman Matt Gilhool coming in. While Chest had flashes of being a solid two way player for the Tigers, it wasn't consistent enough to be too distraught over his departure.
On the other hand, LSU is going to have a ton of roster turnover this offseason, and keeping Corey Chest in the fold would've been nice for the Tigers. Corey Chest's best play came alongside Jalen Reed and when he was lost for the season, Chest's production took a dip. Chest would fit best alongside a traditional power forward that can stretch the floor and he'll likely be a great piece for another program.
