As the LSU Football team has reached the end of its season the NFL season is the next to end for the teams that won't reach the NFL Playoffs. As some players return to LSU the Tigers lose a handful of their top players to the NFL Draft.
One of the biggest losses by far is the loss of Right Tackle Emery Jones Jr as he passed up his Senior season for the Draft. Selecting where Jones may end up in the NFL Draft is difficult as he's only played right tackle but, five teams make a ton of sense for Jones.
New York Giants
The New York Giants have a roster that is clearly lacking a ton of talent as they finish the year 3-14. The Giants have tried to overhaul their offensive line but, the Giants have allowed 48 sacks this season. Among the issues for the Giants has been Right Tackle as former top ten pick Evan Neal hasn't panned out to this point in his career. Landing Emery Jones Jr would help LSU in building up its offensive line while also giving Malik Nabers a familiar face in the building.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks offense was a massive failure in 2024 which has already resulted in the firing of offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Part of the abject failure was struggles on the offensive line as Geno Smith was sacked 50 times in 2024 while backup Sam Howell was sacked 4 times. One of the positions the Seahawks need to address the most is right tackle where they burned through a few players in 2024. Drafting Emery Jones Jr gives Seattle an experienced right tackle that excels in pass protection to help in keeping Geno Smith upright.
Washington Commanders
This season has shown the Commanders they have an elite quarterback in Jayden Daniels and now the top priority should be keeping him protected. This season Washington has started 4th round pick Brandon Coleman at Left Tackle and veteran Andrew Wylie at right tackle. The team may look to move on from Wylie who has an out in his contract and Emery Jones would be a perfect fit. Jones has already blocked for Jayden Daniels and if the team looks to get younger around Daniels adding a piece he has chemistry with makes the most sense.
Los Angeles Rams
Far and away, the top priority for the Los Angeles Rams this offseason will be adding talent in the trenches to help protect Matt Stafford. Landing Emery Jones early on would make a ton of sense for the Rams as they can try him at either tackle position as they may need to replace both tackles this offseason. If the Rams look for a stopgap at tackle, they can slide Emery Jones inside to guard if he's willing to ease him into the NFL.
New England Patriots
As the New England Patriots are set to enter a new era after firing Jerod Mayo, the new regime will be tasked with getting the most out of Drake Maye. The easiest way to do that is keeping Maye on the field which was difficult as he was sacked 34 times in 13 games suffering hand and head injuries this season. The Patriots desperately need to add offensive linemen especially tackles to help in keeping Drake Maye upright.
