The LSU Football program is looking to finally nab a commitment from a quarterback on the recruiting trail after a tough stretch recruiting quarterbacks. The Tigers missing out on Bryce Underwood hurt even more because of the fact that while he was on board most of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class committed elsewhere. While LSU is still looking for a commitment in the 2026 recruiting class, the 2027 quarterback class became the one to watch for LSU.
The Tigers are tied to most of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 recruiting cycle which could lead to LSU taking two quarterbacks. Elijah Haven and Peyton Houston are two top quarterbacks from Louisiana, Colton Nussmeier is the brother of LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, and Joe Sloan has been in on quarterbacks like Trae Taylor and Trent Seaborn for awhile.
Trae Taylor moves commitment date up closing in on a decision
One of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class and one of LSU's top targets, Trae Taylor has moved his commitment date up from June 6th as he'll now announce his decision on May 1st.
The news comes on the heels of Taylor visiting Auburn which could be a concern for the schools that were in the perceived lead. It's truly tough to tell who's leading for Trae Taylor, he's been on Michigan's campus the most, LSU and Nebraska have both hosted Taylor and have made strong pushes as have several other schools.
On3 ranks Trae Taylor as the 86th ranked player in the class, the 6th ranked quarterback in the class, and the 3rd ranked player out of Illinois.
Getting Trae Taylor on board in the 2027 recruiting class would be massive for the LSU Football program. The quarterbacks are typically first to commit and from there they help attract talent into the recruiting class. Having Trae Taylor in place would allow LSU to start building is 2027 recruiting class early while talent joins him with the hope that LSU finishes with another Top 5 recruiting class.
