It was a busy week in the SEC. Texas A&M went into South Bend and won in dramatic fashion, Georgia and Tennessee played an instant classic, LSU picked off DJ Lagway five times, and Vanderbilt impressed on the road against South Carolina.
We are only three weeks into the season, but some teams are starting to separate themselves - for better or for worse. There are only two conference games in Week 4, but after that, things begin to really heat up. Let's take a look at where each team stacks up in this week's SEC power rankings.
16. Kentucky Wildcats (48-23 win vs Eastern Michigan)
After falling to Ole Miss last week, Kentucky bounced back with a 48-23 win over Eastern Michigan. Zach Calzada didn't see any action, as redshirt freshman Cutter Boly got the starting nod at quarterback. He was impressive, throwing for 240 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He also ran for 24 yards on five carries. It was good to see for Wildcat fans, but a win over a MAC team won't get them up from the cellar of the SEC power rankings this week.
15. Arkansas Razorbacks (41-35 loss at No. 17 Ole Miss)
The Arkansas Razorbacks put up impressive numbers against a pair of lesser opponents to start the season, but Sam Pittman's squad fell short in their SEC opener at Ole Miss on Saturday. The offense continued to roll, but the Razorback defense let Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss go nuts in his starting debut. The Razorbacks put up a good fight, but the defense is a cause for concern.
14. Florida Gators (20-10 loss at No. 3 LSU)
DJ Lagway is going to have nightmares of his first visit to Death Valley. Lagway and the Florida offense was in shambles all night, as Lagway threw a whopping five interceptions. The most costly pick came via a Dashawn Spears 58-yard pick six, which ultimately sealed the deal. Billy Napier is in even hotter water now, and their schedule doesn't do the Gators any favors moving forward.
13. Mississippi State Bulldogs (63-0 win vs Alcorn State)
Jeff Lebby continues to have Mississippi State trending in the right direction. The Bulldogs followed up last week's thrilling victory over then-No. 12 Arizona State with a 63-0 thumping of Alcorn State on Saturday. After winning just two games last season, Lebby has the Bulldogs at 3-0. MSU could very well pickup another win before SEC play, as Northern Illinois heads to Starkville this week.
12. South Carolina Gamecocks (31-7 loss vs Vanderbilt)
South Carolina suffered a disappointing loss to Vanderbilt in Columbia on Saturday night. LaNorris Sellers entered the season as a Heisman contender, and has struggled to get going so far in 2025. To make matters worse, he went down with an injury in the second quarter against Vanderbilt. Shane Beamer said he is "optimistic" that Sellers can play in Week 4, but only time will tell. Even with Sellers, the Gamecock offense has struggled to find a rhythm.
11. Missouri Tigers (52-10 win vs Louisiana)
Missouri rolled past Louisiana by a score of 52-10 to move to 3-0. The offense continues to look impressive, as Beau Pribula thrived once again and ULM transfer Ahmad Hardy racked up a whopping 250 rushing yards to go along with a trio of scores. The defense was also dominant, as the Ragin' Cajuns mustered up just four passing yards on the day. The Tigers open SEC play this weekend against a South Carolina team that could be without LaNorris Sellers.
10. Vanderbilt Commodores (31-7 win at No. 11 South Carolina)
The Commodores are proving that last year's season wasn't a fluke. Vanderbilt is 3-0 for the first time since 2017, and Clark Lea's team picked up an impressive win at South Carolina in Week 3. Sellers' injury loomed large, and Vandy was able to dominate once Luke Doty took over for the Gamecocks. After out-scoring Virginia Tech 34-0 in the second half last week, Vanderbilt out-scored South Carolina 17-0 in the second half on Saturday. The Commodores have a great chance to improve to 5-0 over the new few weeks, as their next two opponents are Georgia State and Utah State.
9. Alabama Crimson Tide (38-14 win vs Wisconsin)
Alabama has looked like a much different team since Week 1's loss to Florida State. Now, ULM and Wisconsin haven't been the toughest opponents, but the effort and execution from the Crimson Tide has been noticeably enhanced. Ty Simpson has rarely thrown an incompletion over the last two weeks, and star wideout Ryan Williams looked back to his original self against the Badgers. The Tide now have a bye week before a massive game at Georgia on Sept. 27.
8. Texas Longhorns (27-10 win vs UTP)
The Longhorn defense continues to be elite, but Arch Manning's continuous struggles cannot be ignored. Manning put together another rough outing against UTEP on Saturday. He completed just 11 of his 25 pass attempts for a modest 114 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He missed several easy throws and just didn't look all that comfortable. However, he did rush for 51 yards and two touchdowns. But if Texas is going to reach their lofty goals this season, Arch needs to turn a corner.
7. Ole Miss Rebels (41-35 win vs Arkansas)
Ole Miss moved to 2-0 in SEC play this weekend with a six-point win over Arkansas. Senior Trinidad Chambliss got the starting nod over Austin Simmons, and Chambliss shined with his opportunity. In total, Chambliss threw for 353 yards and a touchdown while also adding 62 yards and two scores on the ground. It was a sensational performance, which gives Rebels fans comfort in the state of Ole Miss' offense moving forward after some struggles from Simmons.
6. Auburn Tigers (31-15 win vs South Alabama)
Auburn continued its strong start with a 31-15 win over South Alabama. Hugh Freeze has his Tigers off to a 3-0 start, but two tough road tests are ahead. Over the next two weeks Auburn goes to No. 11 Oklahoma and No. 10 Texas A&M. We are going to learn a lot about just how for real Auburn is over the next two weeks.
5. Tennessee Volunteers (44-41 OT loss vs No. 6 Georgia)
Although falling to Georgia, Tennessee had the Bulldogs beat. The Vols weren't able to seal the deal, but the effort Josh Heupel's group put forth shows that they are legitimate playoff contenders once again this season. Joey Aguilar continues to impress, and WR Chris Brazzell II stole the show with six catches for 177 yards and three touchdowns.
4. Oklahoma Sooners (42-3 win at Temple)
In one of the strangest matchups of the week, Oklahoma traveled to Philadelphia to take on Temple. The Sooners cruised past the Owls and now sit at 3-0 and own the No. 11 spot in the AP Poll. The offense is firing on all cylinders, and John Mateer is the current Heisman Trophy frontrunner via DraftKings Sportsbook. Oklahoma battles Auburn this weekend in Norman in what should be an entertaining game to watch unfold, and will tell us a lot about both teams.
3. Texas A&M Aggies (41-40 win at No. 8 Notre Dame)
Texas A&M won an instant classic in South Bend on Saturday night. After giving up a late touchdown, a botched extra point from Notre Dame kept the door open for the Aggies. Marcel Reed and company took advantage of the opportunity, marching down the field for the game-winning score. Reed hit Nate Boerkircher for his first catch of the game with just 13 seconds left in regulation. Mike Elko has the Aggies rolling into their bye week before taking on Auburn on Sept. 27.
2. LSU Tigers (20-10 win vs Florida)
LSU moved to 3-0 with a 20-10 win over Florida on Saturday night in Death Valley. The Tiger defense picked off DJ Lagway five times, with sophomore cornerback Dashawn Spears collected two interceptions with a pick six. The defense remains impressive, but the offense is still struggling to find its footing. Despite collecting five turnovers, the LSU offense managed to score just 13 total points and one offensive touchdown. Hopefully, Garrett Nussmeier and company can get back on track this weekend against Southeastern Louisiana before making a trip to Ole Miss on Sept. 27.
1. Georgia Bulldogs (44-41 OT win at No. 15 Tennessee)
Gunner Stockton proved to the college football world that he can be an effective downfield passer. Stockton completed 23 of his 31 pass attempts for 304 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions against Tennessee on Saturday. He also ran for 38 yards and a touchdown. Stockton had not aired the ball out a ton so far in his tenure as Georgia's QB1, but his effectiveness in doing so against the Vols makes Georgia even more dangerous. For now, they take the top spot.
