The College Baseball Regular Season and the Conference Tournaments have drawn to a close, meaning that the only task left to do is reveal the brackets before the NCAA Tournament. The LSU Baseball team is in a much better position than it was at this time last year as the Tigers were revealed to be one of the Top 16 National seeds on Sunday Night which means LSU will host a Regional.

The release only made the news official as it was a foregone conclusion that the Tigers would be one of the Top 16 seeds. The bigger question for LSU Baseball fans has been whether or not the Tigers will be one of the Top 8 seeds, ensuring that the Tigers have a path toward hosting Super Regionals in Baton Rouge.
At the SEC Tournament, it was important that LSU beat Texas A&M, as a loss to the Aggies would've dealt a massive blow to the Tigers' RPI. The Tigers picked up the win which made the fanbase feel positive about the Tigers' chances but, which way the NCAA Tournament committee leans is unpredictable.
On Selection Monday, here is where LSU stands in the RPI Rankings and the Final Projections for the Tournament.
LSU's Rankings and Projections
- RPI: 10th
- D1Baseball: 7th Overall Seed
- Baseball America: 6th Overall Seed
Both D1Baseball and Baseball America projecting that the Tigers will be a Top 8 seed is encouraging, especially given the fact that they aren't the 8th-ranked team as it indicated that LSU may have extra room to fall. The concern for the Tigers would be the fact that the RPI Rankings have LSU outside of the Top 8 which could be a concern as the committee heavily uses RPI to make its decision.
Predicting where LSU Baseball is ranked in the NCAA Tournament
Heading into the NCAA Tournament bracket reveal, we lean closer toward D1Baseball's 7th ranking than Baseball America's. The key team will be Auburn as they rank 3rd in the RPI with a series win over the Tigers which will likely keep the team in front of LSU on Selection Monday. Coastal Carolina, Clemson, and Ole Miss will be the three teams with the potential to bounce LSU out of the Top 8 as 2 of the 3 have a better RPI ranking while Coastal Carolina won its Conference Tournament.
