The LSU Basketball team is in full roster reload currently as the transfer portal is in full swing with the Tigers making plenty of additions and subtractions. While all focus is on the transfer portal, lost in the shuffle is the fact that LSU signed the Nation's 23rd ranked recruiting class with 3 Top-90 recruits. The Tigers incoming class will join the team giving Matt McMahon pieces to develop but, they may also have a chance to make an impact early on.

It's always hard to project how many minutes a true freshman will make as the speed and size of the college level in the SEC is much tougher than anything they've seen at the High School level. As LSU continues to add talent to the roster, each of LSU's incoming freshmen still appear in the mix for solid playing time.

Jalen Reece - Point Guard

Before any of the transfer portal departures Jalen Reece would've carved out a nice role for LSU next season. Mike Williams III, Vyctorius Miller, and Tyrell Ward leaving has only opened up more of a potential role for Jalen Reece. The Tigers added their starting point guard in the transfer portal landing UNLV star Dedan Thomas Jr who will run the first unit.

The battle for Jalen Reece will be up against Curtis Givens who gained a ton of experience for the role running the second unit. Reece is extremely talented with the ball in his hands but, his ability to create for himself and other along with the ability to knock down the three will give him a consistent role for Matt McMahon's team.

Matt Gilhool - Forward

While Matt Gilhool is LSU's highest ranked signee, the forward may have the toughest time earning playing time of the Freshmen. The LSU Basketball team returns a ton of depth down and already added a forward via the transfer portal as Gilhool will compete with Jalen Reed, Robert Miller III, Daimion Collins, and Mike Nwoko for playing time. Gilhool will get to play often for the Tigers but, any additional transfers added makes it even tougher to play consistently.

Mazi Mosley - Shooting Guard

The shooting guard position will be one of the most fun to follow next season for LSU as it could be anyone's job. The Tigers added Max Mackinnon and Rashad King via the transfer portal while Curtis Givens and Jalen Reece will all also compete for some of the available time at the position. Mazi Mosley has one clear path to playing time and that's becoming a consistent three point shooter. After shooting just 28% from 3 as a Junior, Mosley has shown clear improvement and if he can continue to become a knock down shooter he'll play early and often for the Tigers.
