Whit Weeks and Bradyn Swinson turn in two incredible defensive performances
When LSU entered the week, everyone knew the Tigers took the field it was going to take a herculean effort from the defense. The Rebels offense can score in a flash which could've killed this Tigers defense but, two players stepped up and shuttered this offense.
When Ole Miss tried to pass, Jaxson Dart was consistently facing pressure as the defense really stepped up. It was the play of one player however, that truly changed this game and that was Bradyn Swinson. Nearly every time a player on the defense's name was called it was Bradyn Swinson who was everywhere for LSU.
Bradyn Swinson turned in another two sack performance adding 2.5 tackles for a loss and two pass breakups. The two sacks doesn't tell the full story as Swinson drew multiple holding calls and was constantly making Jaxson Dart rush through his progressions.
The only player who may have had a better game than Bradyn Swinson was linebacker Whit Weeks. The linebacker was nearly ejected in the first half for a targeting call and LSU is certainly thankful that he stayed in the game. Weeks finished the game with 18 total tackles ten of which were solo tackles, with a sack, a pass breakup, and a forced fumble.
The performance even earned Weeks some props from another great LSU linebacker Patrick Queen.
The secondary played an incredible game as well today
In the secondary, LSU had a tough task going against Ole Miss' wide receivers and their job was made easier when Tre Harris left the game with an injury. PJ Woodland made a crucial pass breakup late in the game ensuring the game went to overtime. Ashton Stamps was the benefactor of a Harris drop but, he broke up three passes and had a nice performance. Zy Alexander had the best game of the bunch adding another interception and a pass breakup.
