Will Wade addresses the LSU elephant in the room after NC State's ACC Tournament exit

As of right now, Matt McMahon is still in charge of the LSU Tigers' men's basketball team. The former Murray State Racers rockstar head coach has not had any success since coming to Baton Rouge. LSU finished the season 15-17 after falling to Kentucky in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Wednesday, 87-82. McMahon has only had one winning season in four years on the job leading LSU.

So when former LSU coach Will Wade was asked about his old job, he was less than thrilled about it...

"No, is the job open there? Huh? No, so ... Let me be very clear. I'm excited at NC State. I was hired at NC State to do a job. This wasn't gonna take one year. I've already met with our administration about next year and some of the changes we need to make, and some of the things we need to do to put this program where it deserves, long-term."

The disgraced former LSU head coach defended himself after NC State lost to Virginia on Thursday.

"So I'm not on social media. I'm not into gossip. I'm not into any of that sort of stuff. But look, we're going to win and we're going to win big at NC State. And that's what we're going to do moving forward. We have the resources we need. We have what we need so me and my staff can get the job done."

Despite having been a tournament team all season long, Wade seemed a bit defeated after the loss.

"Look. This year hasn't gone exactly how we wanted it to, but we're gonna rally and we're gonna work hard, and we're gonna have a team next year that's ready to roll."

Clearly, there is no amount of an offer that could get Wade to leave Raleigh to be calling Baton Rouge.

If LSU wanted to move on from McMahon now, it most certainly could, but it will not be for Wade...

Will Wade made it abundantly clear that he is not coming back to LSU

Let's be totally honest with ourselves. If LSU were to somehow have Wade, Lane Kiffin, and Kim Mulkey in the same athletic department, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey might retire on the spot. Wade may have brought great success to LSU on the hardwood, but he is not about to walk back to Baton Rouge after what transpired before. He just worked his way back to being a Power Five coach.

While North Carolina State does not have the financial resources as LSU does across the board, NC State is far more of a basketball school than LSU ever really has been. Yes, the Tigers have had their moments on the hardwood, but NC State is every bit the part of the fabric over in Tobacco Road. Wade wants to be a part of that to build something special over in Raleigh for the foreseeable future.

Right now, it would only be pure comedy if Wade were to leave NC State after one year to come back to Baton Rouge. When NC State hired him, Wade had to overcome all of his baggage from how things ended at LSU previously. Yes, turning McNeese into a mid-major behemoth is nothing to sneeze at, but Wade does not seem to be about the smoke coming back to Baton Rouge. He does not want it.

Frankly, until McMahon is relieved from his duties, we should be gearing up for another lost season.
