Jay Johnson continues to work wonders at the helm of the LSU Baseball program. Johnson has won two National Championships in the last four years, and has LSU well-positioned for a title run once again in 2026.
Joey Aguilar's injunction denial creates a big unknown for LSU's schedule in 2026
As successful as Johnson's tenure in Baton Rouge has been, his teams have never started 6-0. That changed on Friday afternoon when the Tigers took down the Indiana Hoosiers by a score of 14-7 to move to 6-0 on the young season.

LSU secures first 6-0 start under Jay Johnson
Now in his fifth season on the bayou, Johnson has secured his first 6-0 start. During his first season in 2022, the Tigers started 3-0 before falling to Louisiana Tech. LSU then started 5-0 the following three seasons, but could never reach the 6-0 mark. The Tigers lost to Iowa in 2023, Stony Brook in 2024, and Omaha last season in 2025 - all of which prevented them from reaching 6-0.
The play that changed the game against the Hoosiers was a three-run home run by Zach Yorke in the top of the 8th inning. The Tigers were trailing 5-4 at the time, but Yorke's monster blast propelled the LSU offense to a late rally. The bullpen was able to hold on to give the Tigers a 14-7 victory.

The Tigers entered the season as the odds-on favorite to win the National Championship once again, and their impressive 6-0 record thus far is an ideal start to the new campaign. The offense is leading the charge, as LSU is averaging a strong 12.8 runs per game.
Friday's win over Indiana gives LSU a strong start to the Jax Baseball Classic. The Tigers will now face Notre Dame on Saturday and UCF on Sunday from VyStar Ballpark in Jacksonville.
Following this weekend's Jax Baseball Classic, the Tigers return home to Alex Box Stadium to face McNeese on Tuesday, February 24.
