Ju'Juan Johnson - Running Back
Earlier in the season afert LSU lost John Emery Jr for the season the Tigers made the decision to move True Freshman Ju'Juan Johnson from Safety to Running Back. The move paid early dividends with Johnson as a receiving back but, on the season he has just 12 touches. The rest of the way, Brian Kelly and his staff should get Johnson more touches to determine if this is his best fit long term or if he should play elsewhere as he's talented enough to play several positions.
Javien Toviano - Defensive Back
This offseason, LSU will likely lose Jardin Gilbert, Major Burns, Zy Alexander, and Sage Ryan leaving some holes to be filled in the secondary. Last season, Javien Toviano impressed but, he didn't get as much playing time this season due to some offseason off the field issues. Toviano gives the Tigers versatility as he can play cornerback or safety which makes him such an intriguing piece to figure out the rest of the way.
Jelani Watkins - Wide Receiver
Among LSU's freshman class is Jelani Watkins a four-star wide receiver who hasn't played yet for the Tigers. His summer started rough as he was a Summer enrollee who then dealt with a foot injury that caused him to miss time. During Brian Kelly's Press Conference at SEC Media Days, he described Watkins as one of the fastest players in the Country and a player who could contribute in year one. Given that LSU has had issues taking the top off opposing defenses, giving Watkins some playing time could help in that area.
Dominick McKinley - Defensive Tackle
Unlike most of the players on the list, Dominick McKinley has played a ton this year but, his role should grow. This weekend, McKinley played just four snaps partially because of LSU's dominance in the time of possession but it still isn't enough as LSU has struggled on the defensive line. Next season, McKinley will need to be a key piece of LSU's defensive rotation next season and his play could help the defense this season.
Shelton Sampson Jr - Wide Receiver
As LSU's wide receivers continues to struggle with creating separation, its a surprise that Shelton Sampson Jr isn't playing. This weekend, Sampson Jr didn't receive any snaps as LSU desperately needed a receiver that could get open. On the season, Sampson is still seeking his first catch and as the veterans struggle it would be nice to see some of the younger players get into the mix.
