10 Things we learned about the LSU Tigers in Week 2

5.) This offensive line will be a strength of the team. The Tiger offensive front looked lost at times against Wisconsin, but was much more sure against Sam Houston State. Communication improved and holes were opened for the backs to find. Even though it was an FCS opponent, paving the way for 334 yards on the ground is impressive.
Ethan Pocic seemed more poised at center, but suffered an ankle injury during the course of the game. Andy Dodd filled in admirably while Pocic was on the sideline in a walking boot. This week, LSU gets center Elliott Porter back from a two game suspension, so Pocic will have time to recover.
Surprisingly, the right side of the line with Hoko Fanaika (who blew open the hole for Fournette’s big run) and Gerald Hawkins paved the way for most of LSU’s big runs. La’El Collins & Vadal Alexander on the left comprise the more talented side, but if the line is good enough that LSU doesn’t have to favor a side, that will help keep defenses off balance when the Tigers go to a run play.
