Former LSU football tight end Thaddeus Moss was signed by the Washington Redskins after the 2020 NFL Draft.

LSU football‘s Thaddeus Moss wasn’t selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he was quickly scooped up by the Washington Redskins.

Moss signed with Washington, instead of the Cincinnati Bengals (where he would’ve played with former teammate Joe Burrow), because the Redskins were the first team to call him after the draft.

I was surprised when Moss wasn’t drafted. I felt like he’d go in the middle rounds — maybe even as high as the fourth round.

But Moss had surgery on his foot earlier this winter, which likely scared some teams off.

The Redskins, in my view, are getting an incredible bargain with Moss.

I don’t think the former LSU standout will be Pro-Bowl player in the NFL, but I think he’ll have a long, solid career and help Washington win some games.

Moss proved his value in Baton Rouge in 2019 after catching 47 passes for 570 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers might sound modest, but they’re actually impressive when you consider that Moss was battling Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Terrace Marshall Jr, and Stephen Sullivan for targets.

The fact that Moss went undrafted wasn’t lost on the former Tigers star, who described the feeling as a “slap in the face”.

“I definitely felt some type of way over it,” said Moss recently via ESPN.

Going undrafted isn’t the only reason Moss will play with a chip on his shoulder in 2020. He also feels he has separate himself from the comparisons to his Hall of Fame father, Randy Moss.

“Everybody keeps mentioning my father, mentioning his last name, but just the identity I want to make is my own identity. I look forward to making a name for myself,” explained Moss.

Players that play with a chip on their shoulder often find great success in the NFL.

There’s no better motivation than feeling like you have to prove yourself.
