Could former LSU football wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr be the subject of trade rumors yet again?

Former LSU football wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr is no stranger to trade rumors.

In fact, it feels like there’s rarely a month when an OBJ trade rumor doesn’t surface.

Earlier this offseason, there was a report that the Minnesota Vikings were interested in trading for Beckham.

(Minnesota eventually decided to not pursue a trade for OBJ, instead addressing their need at wide receiver by drafting LSU’s Justin Jefferson in the first round.)

The Cleveland Browns spent much of the offseason denying Beckham trade rumors. Of course, it didn’t stop the rumors from persisting.

And with just a few months to go before the season starts, it might be time for the rumors to heat up again.

Odell Beckham Jr to the New England Patriots?

On Sunday evening, it was reported by multiple outlets that former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton had signed with the New England Patriots.

As soon as I saw the news, the first thing that popped into my mind was the recent video of OBJ and Newton working out together.

It seems clear from OBJ’s response to the Patriots’ decision to sign Newton that the two are close.

Is it possible that Beckham could desire to be traded to the Patriots now that Newton is in New England?

It certainly wouldn’t surprise me.

There have been rumors connecting OBJ to the Patriots before. New England was reportedly interested in trading for Beckham when he was with the New York Giants.

The Patriots lost a lot of star power with Tom Brady moving on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There’s no way to replace Brady, but landing OBJ could help ease the pain of losing the future Hall of Fame quarterback

While I don’t necessarily expect to see OBJ depart from Cleveland this offseason, it definitely wouldn’t surprise me to see New England strongly pursue the three-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver.
