LSU Football: AJ Green has already formed an opinion on Joe Burrow
By Zach Ragan
Former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow will be throwing to an all-time great wide receiver in 2020.
Leading up the 2020 NFL Draft, there was a lot of talk about whether or not LSU football‘s Joe Burrow wanted to play for the Cincinnati Bengals.
The “talk” about Burrow not wanting to play for the Bengals was almost entirely nonsense. The idea was that Burrow wouldn’t want to play for a franchise that wasn’t perceived as trying to win on an annual basis.
In the midst of the Bengals/Burrow draft “controversy”, there was one element of the former LSU standout playing for Cincinnati that was consistently overlooked.
Burrow getting to play with wide receiver AJ Green.
Green has dealt with several injuries over the last couple of years (an ankle injury forced him to miss the entire 2019 season), but he’s still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.
The former Georgia star, who will turn 32 later this month, is a seven-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver. Green led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards in 2013. He’s a player that any young quarterback would love to work with.
Burrow was in a rare position after his 2019 season in Baton Rouge that he could’ve landed with a team that didn’t have wide receivers as good as who he played with in college (Justin Jefferson was a first-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings this year and Ja’Marr Chase would’ve been a top-five pick had he been draft eligible).
But fortunately for Burrow, he’ll get to play with one of the game’s best in Green.
AJ Green has already formed his opinion on Joe Burow
Green, who says he is healthy heading into the 2020 season, hasn’t met Burrow yet. But he already feels a certain way about the 2019 Heisman Trophy winner.
“I know the type of player he is, and I know he’s a dog. I know he’s a dog for a fact. So I’m excited to play with him. I’m just can’t wait to get out there”, said Green on Friday (via ESPN’s Ben Baby).
It’s no surprise to hear that Green feels this way about Burrow — there isn’t anyone on the planet (outside of Colin Cowherd) that sees anything but greatness in Burrow.
A healthy AJ Green combined with a determined Joe Burrow could be bad news for the rest of the AFC North.
