LSU football’s Joe Burrow skyrocketed to the top of the 2020 NFL Draft after his 2019 senior season.

Former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow was mostly an afterthought heading into the 2019 season.

Burrow wasn’t listed in early NFL mock drafts, he wasn’t receiving the same attention as Tua Tagovailoa and he certainly wasn’t the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.

Of course, we all know how the season played out. Burrow put on a show the entire season, passing for over 5,600 yards and throwing 60 touchdowns (against only six interceptions).

By the time the season ended, Burrow was the consensus top prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Unsurprisingly, there were still a few folks who thought Burrow might be a one-year wonder. Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd verbally assaulted Burrow’s abilities during the offseason and questioned whether or not the former LSU standout will have a successful NFL career.

Well, Cowherd can eat his words. Because it’s beyond clear at this point that Burrow is going to be quite successful in the NFL.

Why Joe Burrow is going to have major success in the NFL

Burrow, who was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the first pick in the draft, is already being treated by the coaching staff like a veteran quarterback.

Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan was asked this week if he’s having to slow things down for Burrow (playbook, installs, etc).

Callahan’s response left no doubt that Burrow is ready to star in the NFL.

“So far I would say that he has not proven that he needs any more time to study and learn than anybody else that I’ve been around. So we kind of throw it all at him,” said Callahan during the virtual press conference.

That’s remarkable for a rookie that’s had to deal with an insane offseason that’s mostly prevented him from being in the building and with his teammates.

Burrow is truly on another level. And the scary thing for the rest of the NFL (specifically the AFC North) is that he’s just going to get better. The kid is a sponge. He soaks up information unlike any player I’ve ever seen before.

The Bengals of the future are going to be a much different team than what we’ve seen over the last 30 years. And it’s all because of Joe Burrow.
