LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron is raving about a true freshman.

LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron might be one of the best interviews in all of sports.

And it’s not because of his signature “Geaux Tigahs!” that ends every interview. It’s because Coach O is genuine and candid. Orgeron doesn’t bore reporters (and fans) with coach speak. He gives great answers that provide plenty of insight.

This week, during a media session with reporters, Orgeron had more candid, insightful comments for reporters.

One of those comments was about a true freshman that has been impressing Coach O this fall.

The Tigers signed running back Kevontre Bradford during the 2020 recruiting cycle because they believe he’s a good player.

LSU is one of the elite programs in college football — they don’t take fliers on recruits. Coach O and his staff only sign players they believe in.

So it shouldn’t be a surprise that Bradford is performing well during fall camp.

What is a surprise, however, is that the Texas native is performing as well as he is so far.

Orgeron took time to praise Bradford this week in a way that only Coach O can.

“We always thought he was a good player. I didn’t know him very well, to be honest with you because we got on him late,” said Orgeron to reporters (via 247Sports). “He surprised me as far as his toughness, his athletic ability, his speed. He’s better than I thought he would be, which is really good because I wouldn’t have signed him if I didn’t think he was good enough to play here.”

LSU obviously believed during the recruiting process that Bradford had a chance to be a good player in the SEC.

It has to be a good sign when a player is surpassing expecations as a true freshman. It just proves that Orgeron and his staff have an incredible eye for talent.
