Former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow recently had his first scrimmage with the Cincinnati Bengals.

We already know that expectations are going to be sky-high for former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow in 2020.

Burrow, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, was named the Bengals’ starting quarterback shortly after the draft (when former Cincinnati starting quarterback Andy Dalton was released).

Various reports during the offseason have suggested that Burrow has a firm grasp on the offense and is already leading the team like a seasoned veteran.

Because of those reports, Burrow is expected to hit the ground running in 2020 and immediately make a massive impact on the Bengals’ offense.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Burrow is already well on his way to exceeding those high expectations.

Joe Burrow is already excelling in Cincinnati

Burrow recently completed his first scrimmage with the Bengals and his stat line look should look familiar to LSU fans.

According to ESPN, Burrow was 9-of-10 passing for 101 yards with two touchdowns in his first two drives. He finished 13-of-19.

Burrow and a high completion percentage go together like peanut butter and jelly. It’s just what he does.

In 2019 at LSU, Burrow completed 76.3 percent of his passes (against some of the best competition in college football).

Earlier this month, former NFL quarterback Jordan Palmer laid out his expectations for Burrow as a rookie. The main thing Palmer said he expected to see from Burrow in 2020 is a high completion percentage.

It looks like Burrow won’t have any issues there. Sure, he’s still a rookie. But he’s not a typical rookie. Burrow will undoubtedly have some tough stretches in his first years as an NFL quarterback, but for the most part, he appears ready to contribute to the resurgence of the Bengals franchise.
