LSU Football: Joe Burrow recovers after shaky practice
By Zach Ragan
Former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow recovered well after a shaky practice.
Earlier this week, it was reported that former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow finally looked average in a practice with the Cincinnati Bengals.
You usually expect rookie quarterbacks to be shaky to start their NFL careers, but Burrow had been so poised as the Bengals starter that it was a bit surprising to hear that the former LSU standout had a not-so-great practice.
Of course, that’s how it goes in the NFL — even for veterans. There’s good days. There’s bad days. No one is “on” all the time. Not even Burrow.
Unsurprisingly, Burrow recovered well after his “average” practice and looked like his normal self, according to a report from The Athletic.
Joe Burrow finds his groove again
The Athletic’s Jay Morrison reported this week that after Thursday’s tough practice, Burrow responded by looking excellent in red-zone situations.
Morrison said Burrow’s first two passes from the 10-yard line went for touchdowns (to Drew Sample and Auden Tate). After an incompletion, Burrow’s next two passes also went for touchdowns (C.J. Uzomah and Cethan Carter).
This is what I expect to see from Burrow as he learns to navigate the landscape of the NFL.
We already know that Burrow is a great leader. And we know he has the talent to excel in the NFL.
But the NFL is still a different beast than the college game. There’s no one giving up plays. The talent level is high at every position. It’s a different world.
Burrow, however, will adjust accordingly and be fine. There may be some ups and downs, but he’ll learn from his mistakes. That’s why the Bengals made him the top selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.
