LSU football and Alabama won’t play their scheduled game this weekend due to postive COVID-19 tests.

LSU football and Alabama won’t play this weekend as originally scheduled because of numerous positive COVID-19 tests.

Hopefully the game will be made up (everonye wants more college football, right?), but for now it’s unclear if/when that will happen.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” responded LSU head coach Ed Orgeron on Wednesday when asked when the game could be made up (via Brooks Kubena).

I’d expect the game to eventually be played. But regardless of if/when it’s played, the fact it’s not being played this weekend has already robbed us all of a potentially awesome moment.

LSU football could’ve had an unexpected quarterback against Alabama

Starting quarterback Myles Brennan was already ruled out for the Alabama game way before the matchup was postponed.

Brennan, who is dealing with an abodomen injury he suffered against Missouri last month, will likely miss the rest of the year.

That leaves true freshmen TJ Finley and Max Johnson as the Tigers’ top two quarterback options.

Due to various players being out (via quaratine/contact tracing/positive tests), punter Zach Von Rosenberg has been playing some second team quarterback this week.

Yes, the 30 year old punter who played professional baseball before returning to LSU, has a spot on LSU’s depth chart.

According to Coach O, Von Rosenberg even threw a touchdown in practice this week, which led to cheering from the whole team.

LSU obviously doesn’t want to get to a point where the punter is forced into the game at quarterback. But you have to admit, it would’ve been pretty cool to see the 30 year old get into a game against Alabama at quarterback.

Next. LSU's struggles aren't impacting recruiting. dark

Who knows, maybe Von Rosenberg could’ve provided a spark.
