3. Jeremy Pruitt — Tennessee head coach

Jeremy Pruitt is still Tennessee’s head coach, but I’m not sure how much longer that will be the case.

Pruitt went 3-7 in his third season as the Vols’ head coach. And Tennessee is currently in the midst of a recruiting scandal. It feels like his days at Tennessee are numbered.

While things haven’t worked out for Pruitt as a head coach, there’s no doubt he’s a great defensive coordinator.

Pruitt won a national championship as Florida State’s defensive coordinator in 2013. He then served as Georgia’s defensive coordinator for two seasons, before returning to Alabama (where his college coaching career started) and serving as the Tide’s defensive coordinator for two seasons (Alabama won a national championship in Pruitt’s final season in Tuscaloosa).

That’s an impressive resume.

The obvious assumption is that if Pruitt is fired at Tennessee he’ll just return to Alabama in some capacity. And maybe that’s the case.

Or maybe Pruitt wants to land somewhere other than Alabama. A fresh start so to speak.

What better location than Baton Rouge?
