Former LSU football passing game coordinator Joe Brady could be getting a head coaching gig.

Former LSU football passing game coordinator Joe Brady is already being mentioned as a potential head-coaching candidate in the NFL.

Of course, it’s not like this should be a surprise. We knew when Brady was in Baton Rouge that he was a rising star that would likely continue to climb the coaching ranks quickly.

Brady was only at LSU for one season before landing in the NFL as the Carolina Panthers’ offensive coordinator.

And now it appears that Brady could be on the move again after just one season on the job.

Could Joe Brady reunite with former LSU Football quarterback Joe Burrow?

Pro Football Talk reported on Sunday that Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor could be in trouble.

“Although NFL Media has reported that Zac Taylor is expected to return, there’s a rumor making that rounds that Taylor could be out,” wrote Mike Florio on Sunday.

The Bengals went 4-11-1 this season, which is only a slight improvement over their 2-14 record in 2019 (which led to the No. 1 pick and the selection of former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow).

There are plenty of reasons outside of Taylor’s control for the Bengals’ poor record in 2020 (offensive line talent issues, Burrow’s injury). Ultimately, however, it’s not Taylor’s record that could get him the boot.

It’s the availability of Brady (a move I suggested last month that Cincy should consider).

Reuniting Brady and Burrow in Cincinnati is a dream scenario for the Bengals. In 2019 at LSU, under Brady’s guidance, Burrow tossed for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns, and only six interceptions.

While we obviously wouldn’t see those types of numbers from Burrow at the pro level, it’s still clear that Brady and Burrow work incredibly well together.

But there are going to be several other teams interested in Brady as well. He fits the mold of what a lot of teams are looking for in a head coach these days — young, offensive-minded, and innovative.

Next. Should LSU bring Kevin Steele back to Baton Rouge?. dark

If the Bengals don’t hire Brady now, they could miss their chance to ever bring him to Cincinnati.

Update: The Bengals announced on Monday they are standing by Zac Taylor.
