LSU football landed a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Will Campbell on Saturday evening, giving the Tigers their eighth commitment to their 2022 recruiting class.

Campbell, a Louisiana native, is ranked as a top 50 overall player by 247Sports.

This is obviously a huge get for LSU. Campbell is an elite offensive lineman and he’s an in-state player. These are the kids that Ed Orgeron and his staff can’t let slip away.

The staff did an extremely nice job of recruiting Campbell and not assuming that he’d commit to LSU simply because that’s what folks expected him to do.

With Campbell, the Tigers aren’t just getting a talented offensive lineman that will be able to help LSU win in the trenches. They’re also getting a kid who is ready to help recruit even more elite talent to Baton Rouge.

LSU football’s newest commit is ready to recruit

Campbell is all when it comes to being a Tiger.

In fact, Campbell told Rivals recently that he’s going to immediately get hard to work trying to sway some recruits to LSU.

“I’m going after Emery Jones and Malik Agbo, some defensive linemen like Jeremiah Alexander from Alabama, and Omari Abor out of Duncanville,” said Campbell. “We’re gonna get guys in the trenches that can help us win a national championship and bring one back to Baton Rouge.”

Emery Jones is a three-star offensive tackle from Baton Rouge, while Malik Agbo is a four-star offensive tackle from Washington. Omari Abor is a four-star defensive end from Texas. All three would be great additions for the Tigers.

dark. Next. LSU could add more talent to 2021 recruiting class

Commits being able to “recruit” other players is something that’s extremely overlooked. Coaches can only do so much recruiting. And ultimately, it’s the relationships between players that can be the most important ingredient to a team’s success.

It’s good news for the Tigers that Campbell is willing to get into the recruiting trenches to help make LSU a better team.
