LSU Football: Ed Ingram’s comments should excite Tigers fans
By Zach Ragan
LSU football redshirt senior offensive lineman Ed Ingram made some comments this week that should get Tigers fans excited.
Ingram spoke to reporters this week about several topics, including sophomore quarterback Max Johnson.
Johnson was named LSU’s starting quarterback earlier this week after redshirt senior Myles Brennan suffered a broken arm that’s expected to keep him out for at least eight weeks.
Brennan and Johnson were entrenched in a tough competition that was far from being decided.
LSU football offensive lineman says Max Johnson is more comfortable in offense
According to Ingram, Johnson is feeling a lot more comfortable playing behind LSU’s offensive linemen.
“He’s (Johnson) a lot more comfortable behind us this season,” said Ingram (via 247Sports). “You can see that he’s built that chemistry with us and he’s a lot more aware and experienced with the playing time he got last year.”
This is obviously great news for the Tigers.
Johnson didn’t look uncomfortable at all when he was leading LSU to two straight wins (over Florida and Ole Miss) to close the 2021 season.
The sophomore signal-caller tossed for 239 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions in a win against Florida in the swamp. The next week, Johnson passed for 435 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception against Ole Miss.
It’s hard to imagine being much more comfortable than that.
But if that’s the case, then LSU fans could be in for a treat this season.
“Last year we built chemistry and we’ve continued to build on that chemistry this season,” said Ingram. “This year, we’re going to be a dominant force.”
Folks might be sleeping on the Tigers a bit entering the 2021 season. This isn’t the same LSU team we saw lose five games last season.
