Bobby Bowden — West Virginia (1970-1075)

Bobby Bowden was a legendary national championship-winning coach at Florida State.

But if he would’ve been a head coach in 2021, he probably wouldn’t have made it to FSU.

Bowden spent six years at West Virginia before landing in Tallahassee.

Bowden’s first three years at West Virginia weren’t bad, going 8-3, 7-4, and 8-4. In year four, the Mountainers took a step back with a 6-5 record. Year five was Bowden’s worst season ever as a head coach, going 4-7.

Going 4-7 in year five gets you fired in 2021.
