Frank Beamer — Virginia Tech (1987-2015)

There’s no way Frank Beamer would have a longterm career at Virginia Tech in today’s college game.

Beamer only won five games in his first two seasons with the Hokies. In year six, Beamer went 2-8-1.

Any coach that wins just two games in year six is done. There would be no famous Beamer Ball in today’s game. Beamer would’ve been toast.

Beamer ended up working out just fine for Virginia Tech. At one point during his time in Blacksburg, Beamer won double-digit games in 11 of 13 seasons. Not too bad for a man who would be fired in today’s college football world.
