LSU football: What, when, and who is attending the Bayou Splash
By John Fye
LSU football will make their final, major recruiting push before the start of fall camp. As such, the Bayou Splash commences on Friday in Death Valley.
The 2024 LSU football recruiting class is currently No. 14 in the nation, with a composite score of 90.39 per industry rankings. The next wave of Tigers includes twelve 4-star and six 3-star players.
We expect LSU’s recruiting class to finish in the top 10 for the 2nd straight year. However, head coach Brian Kelly needs more high school talent and a 5-star player to headline his group.
Recruiting the 2025-26 classes is also a critical task that LSU football fans must consider. As such, the Bayou Splash will seek 2024 recruiting class reinforcement and generate serious momentum ahead of 2025 and 2026.
What is the LSU football Bayou Splash?
The Bayou Splash is an annual LSU football recruiting mega-event in Baton Rouge. The event resembles Georgia’s Scavenger Hunt, Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend, and Oklahoma’s ChampU BBQ.
Typically, these events include a lot of famous alumni, food, pretty girls, and fancy cars
Typically, these events include a lot of famous alumni, food, pretty girls, and fancy cars.
Swooning the country’s top high school football players is a necessary evil in contemporary recruiting.
Fans can expect to see a lot of media coverage of the Bayou Splash. Moreover, social media will fill with images of players modeling LSU football uniforms in and around luxury cars and hardware.
When is the LSU football Bayou Splash?
The 2023 Bayou Splash is Friday, July 28, in Baton Rouge.
We hope inclement weather doesn’t dampen the event. Indeed, it will be neat to see the top LSU football recruiting targets taking in Tiger Stadium under the sun. LSU fans also know that no trip to Death Valley is complete without visiting Mike the Tiger.
However, we don’t specifically know what LSU football has in store for Friday’s Bayou Splash visitors. Oklahoma is one of several programs known for showing off luxury cars on their football field during their annual recruiting event.
Is Kelly planning to line Tiger Stadium with Lamborghinis, Porsches, and Maseratis? Such sounds silly, but fancy cars impress 17-and-18-year-old kids.
Who is attending the LSU football Bayou Splash?
We do not know what LSU alumni will attend the Bayou Splash, but we have a wish list. We’re hoping Kelly swings for the fences by showing off former Tigers like Shaq, Andrew Whitworth, Justin Jefferson, and Joe Burrow.
Regardless, we expect some cameos from LSU baseball and women’s basketball team members.
Most importantly, dozens of top 2024-26 recruits are expected to attend LSU football’s Bayou Splash.
On3’s Billy Embody is doing an outstanding job tracking player invites and RSVPs.

Of all the players attending, none is more critical than Collin Simmons. The No. 4 overall player in the country is the five-star talent LSU football needs to solidify its 2024 recruiting class.
We also expect much attention spent on 2025 four-star receiver Jacorey Watson. According to Embody, LSU football is prioritizing the Pearland (Tex.) standout.
