The 2023 LSU Football schedule features some big stages and marquee opponents. However, there’s a few upcoming opponents that are arguably overrated.

LSU Football enjoyed a resurgence in the first year of Brian Kelly’s leadership in 2022. The Tigers finished 10-4 with an upset of Alabama and a bowl game drubbing of Purdue. The outlook for LSU in 2023 projects better results.

Some unusual opponents will head to Baton Rouge for Saturday games in 2023. Indeed, the atypical opponent often presents the potential for trouble for powerhouse teams like LSU. For example, the Tigers hardly play teams that run the triple option offense; thus, the matchup against Army in late October is one to note.

I don’t think LSU will lose to the Black Knights at home, but a low-scoring affair that includes Army gobbling up the clock with their ground game is possible.

Conversely, LSU Football will play plenty of the usual suspects in 2023. The SEC West remains loaded with talented players and high stakes. However, the division is arguably more wide open than in recent memory.

One might assume the Tigers are the favorite to repeat as SEC West champions. However, the coaches and media have ranked LSU as the 2nd-best team in the division all preseason. To me, this indicates the Crimson Tide are being overrated in 2023.

Nevertheless, is Alabama one of the top overrated teams on LSU’s schedule?
