LSU Football defeated Arkansas last Saturday after a tough battle. As a result, hogs’ players and coaches are getting disgusting treatment from some fans.

LSU Football beating Arkansas to retain “The Boot” trophy and move to 2-0 in SEC play has most Tigers fans in high spirits. However, the mood in Fayetteville is very sour. The Razorbacks have lost two straight games, including last Saturday in Baton Rouge.

As a result, some Arkansas fans are attacking players and coaches directly on social media.

Hogs’ head coach Sam Pittman opened up during his Monday press conference regarding the comments his players received following their loss to LSU. Pittman described a conversation with his punter, Max Fletcher, who was of low morale because of personal attacks received on X (Twitter).

I am critical of LSU Football coaches and players when such is warranted. Heck, the purpose of Death Valley Voice is to serve as a sounding board for fans, for better or worse. Additionally, I am not immune to putting coaches or players on blast via social media.  A college football fan’s worst tweets and posts are often emotionally charged (and booze-fueled) while watching games.

However, I will never tweet or post directly at an LSU Football coach or player because I’m angry with their performance. I’m especially not going to attack the person because of losses on a football field.

Shame on the Arkansas fans that attacked the team’s coaches and players so heinous via social media.

I know this type of behavior occurs within every college football fanbase. I am sure that LSU Football players have tweets, posts, and direct messages from Tiger “fans” who were unhappy after the Week 1 loss to Florida State. None of that is okay.

Nevertheless, I’m highlighting these occurrences within the Razorbacks’ fanbase because their head coach brought it to the media’s attention.

Sam Pittman is right. Many student-athletes have unhealthy dynamics in their lives outside of football. Programs dedicate countless resources to building their athletes up, and it’s not right that miserable, demented humans claiming to be fans are trying to tear them down.

I’m sure the degenerate gamblers also hide behind their phone screens while slinging garbage on social media.

The "LSU fans smell like corndogs" backstory. dark. Next

We need to be better as humans, plain and simple. I’m not sure how we get to the miserable, demented people, but if there’s a way, we must utilize it.
