The chaos of the transfer portal in College Football resumed on Wednesday Morning as the Spring transfer window opened on April 16th and players will be able to enter their names into the transfer portal through April 25th. This spring, the LSU Football program likely won't be as active as the Tigers were this fall as LSU landed 19 high level transfers but, there should still be some action.

Coming into the Spring, the Tigers don't have a ton of needs unless they are created by the transfer portal. If the Tigers entered the season with the roster as it's currently constructed it would be a College Football Playoff level group but, that doesn't mean LSU should stand pat. If impact players at safety, defensive tackle, and offensive tackle enter the transfer portal, they'd be dream additions for LSU to round out this roster.

While it's still very early in the transfer cycle, three early entries standout as potential dream additions for the LSU Football team.

A massive part of LSU's defensive woes the past few seasons has been the level of play that the Tigers have gotten out of the safety room. This Spring, LSU went out and added NC State safety Tamarcus Cooley adding competition to a younger room but, the Tigers can still afford to add a high upside player to the room that can play right away.

Zaquan Patterson already has ties to LSU's staff as he played under LSU analyst Lance Guidry when he was Miami's defensive coordinator. Patterson played in every game as a True Freshman and could be a player the Tigers could target this Spring. The 3 seasons of eligibility remaining paired with the extended playing time he's received would make sense for LSU as he can compete from playing time right away while still developing for the future.

As LSU sends a pair of offensive tackles into the NFL Draft with both guards following them, the LSU Football team enters the season with four new starters on the offensive line. If both of the falls transfer portal additions start on the interior then LSU will likely just have two new starters at both tackle positions.

Given the level of talent on LSU's roster and the fact that Garrett Nussmeier isn't a mobile quarterback, LSU can't afford to enter the season without feeling confident in the offensive line. Blake Steen is a name LSU could eye as a Senior who's started 17 games and played in 20 at right tackle. Adding a veteran tackle like Steen would allow LSU to bridge the gap this season using the veteran offensive tackle as a starter until LSU's promising underclassmen are ready to take the reins.

Continuing on the trend of LSU looking to land key offensive linemen to raise the floor of the unit, North Carolina offensive lineman Zach Rice could be a high upside piece the Tigers take a chance on. Rice was the 13th ranked recruit and the top offensive lineman in 24/7 Sports Composite in the 2022 recruiting class. North Carolina had moved Rice to guard which has left him stuck behind a few players as he learned the position. If LSU feels they can develop Rice into a starting level offensive tackle, it would be worth taking a flyer on Rice as he'll at worst bring competition to the room.
