On Sunday Night, the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee will unveil it's NCAA Tournament brackets with the action set to kick off next week. The LSU Lady Tigers will most likely be seeded as a three seed which isn't going to be a massive surprise. The third seed means LSU's first two matchups may be boring games but, from there, every game could be against an incredible opponent. While we don't get to pick the matchups, these three potential matchups would be the most entertaining at any point in the Tournament.
TCU Horned Frogs
Prior to last season, Hailey Van Lith transferred to defending Champion LSU with a ton of expectations. The move didn't pan out for either side as Hailey Van Lith couldn't fit the mold of a Kim Mulkey point guard, while Van Lith saw her scoring totals go down which led to her transferring rather than entering the WNBA Draft.
Hailey Van Lith transferred to TCU, where she's had a resurgent year, winning the Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Big 12 Player of the Year, and several other accolades. A matchup between Van Lith and LSU would be fascinating and overall good for the sport, as Van Lith would have a chance to shine against her former team.
South Carolina Gamecocks
While Kim Mulkey has done just about everything while at LSU, one thing remains to be done as Kim Mulkey hasn't beaten Dawn Stanley. Since arriving at LSU, Kim Mulkey is 0-4 against Dawn Stanley and after the two seemed poised to meet again in the SEC Tournament, injuries derailed LSU's run. It would be an incredible story to see Kim Mulkey get over the hump against the Gamecocks this Spring and it'd likely mean LSU was either advancing to the Final Four or the National Championship Game.
UConn Huskies
If Kim Mulkey is going to go on a deep NCAA Tournament run to solidify LSU as one of the "New Bloods" in College Basketball, who would be better to face than UConn? Geno Auriemma has 11 National Championships and has built UConn into one of the most dominant programs in the sport. Kim Mulkey has won Four National Titles between her stops at Baylor and LSU but, the two icons haven't faced off in the Final Four let alone the National Championship Game.
The matchup would also allow to of the biggest stars in the sport to face off in Flau'Jae Johnson and Paige Bueckers. The two have talked about facing off on podcasts together but, fans haven't been treated to what would be an incredible matchup.
