The LSU Women's basketball team has lost its starting point guard as Hailey Van Lith has transferred to TCU. The LSU Tigers will need to bring in some high caliber players after losing its leading scorer and rebounder in Angel Reese and its leader in Assists in Hailey Van Lith.

Landing Van Lith coming off of a championship was a massive get as she was regarded as one of the top transfers in the country. Van Lith averaged 11.6 points per game, 3.6 assists per game, 2.4 rebounds per game, and 1.3 steals per game.

While Hailey Van Lith never reached the potential that everyone expected she also got unfair criticism due to Kim Mulkey's poor defensive gameplan on stopping Caitlin Clark. The transition to playing point guard in Kim Mulkey's offense was difficult and neither side was the right fit.

Kim Mulkey discussed Van Lith's decision to transfer saying the following:

"Her aspirations were to get drafted this year she realized I need another year, and I need to go back to a place where I can relax and get back to my normal position. And what do you do? You hug her and you wish her well."

What's next for the Lady Tigers?

The LSU Women's Basketball team will be just fine despite losing Hailey Van Lith and Angel Reese this off-season. Kim Mulkey is already pursuing several top transfers as she pursues North Carolina transfer Deja Kelly, Ruby Whitehorn, and Lucy Olsen among other top transfers. It'll be difficult to fully rebuild as Mulkey only has one recruit signed in the 2024 recruiting class in Lafayette Christian Academy star point guard Jada Richard. The following weeks will be important as Mulkey attempts to build back to Championship form by pursuing several of the Nation's best transfers.
